British troops save 76 Iraqi prisoners...

British Troops Save 76 Iraqi Prisoners in Raid on Basra Police Station. Backed by tanks, British soldiers raided a police station in the southern city of Basra on Monday, killing seven gunmen in an effort to stop renegade Iraqi officers from executing their prisoners, the British military said. After the British stormed the Basra police station, they removed the prisoners, who showed evidence of torture, then evacuated the building before blowing it up. The operation showed how closely aligned some police units are with militias and death squads, and the challenges coalition forces face, as they transfer authority for security to Iraqis.

Spanish Surgeon Flies to Cuba to Study Possible Castro Surgery. A leading Spanish surgeon traveled to Havana last week, to study whether Fidel Castro should undergo more surgery, a Madrid health official confirmed Monday, adding that Spain had been sending medicine for the ailing Cuban leader since June.

Those were the headlines for today. The question today is could the British have avoid killing those renegade police officers? Of course one can never aprove torture, and when prisoners are tortured on your watch, you are responsible, so the British had to do something. I understand that. But didn't they have a different option then going in there with tanks and blowing up the building after they set free the prisoners. The prisoners were not arrested for nothing. At least, I supposed that there was a reason for their arrests. In one of the most dangerous countries of the world, with very few murder cases solved, police want to see results. And those results do not come automatically, so they use their imagination in interviewing their suspects. A bit like when Tom Cruise almost throws the bad guy out of a plane, when he refuses to give answers in the film MI III. It's not good. No, it's very bad. But under the given circumstances, it's understandable. No one killed Tom Cruise, and my guess is, the British should not have killed the police officers. Arresting them and bringing them to face justice would have been the civilized option.

But as usual, I don't care whatever you do, and for whatever reason, as long as you don't forget, love a soldier. Love, Jenifer Bloom. bloomjenifer@yahoo.co.uk

Again Jenifer

I am again staggered that you continue to make things up to suit the purposes of your very weak points.

You said in your Blog that "British should not have killed the police officers. Arresting them and bringing them to face justice would have been the civilized option."
I have read reports from BBC, FOX, CNN, SKY, and they ALL did not report ANY deaths of the corrupt police officers. Surely the way the media works if they were killed we would have known about it
That was clearly the whole purpose of the raid. To bring those to justice.

And you say "you should love soldier" when at the very least you should comment accurately on the circumstances of the situation before actually saying something (again) that clearly is not true (fantasy).

Rather than "love a soldier" it appears to me you hate soldiers and create hatred of them, because you accuse them of killing, when there was no killing reported.

You a full of dribble. You tell us you are 26, even though you legally are an adult you still have to grow up and get real.

Hope you have wonderful New Year
